In 1989, during the 4th Power System Conference (PSC), the idea of ​​holding an independent conference on electric power distribution networks was brought to life by the late Dr. Ghodratollah Heidari and Mr. Mohammad Mallaki, the Managing Director of TAVANIR Company at that time. Dr. Heidari was in charge of the necessary planning.

After the approval of the conference, letters were sent to the electricity companies about the location and date of the conference. In 1991, following the talks between Dr. Heydari, Mr. Hossein Lawaie, and Dr. Fariborz Mowji-Mogharrar, Bandar Anzali was selected as the venue for the first conference.

The first conference was happily welcomed by experts and officials of electricity companies. The attendance of about 800 people at the conference encouraged the executive officials to bring the second conference with the beneficial experience of the first one. The second to fifth conferences were held with a coherent program in the provinces of Isfahan, Fars, Hormozgan, and Khorasan. The Sixth one was held in Babolsar, Mazandaran province, in May 1996.

From 1997 to 2001, the conference was suspended, but fortunately, after 5 years of interruption, the seventh conference, with more than 1000 participants, was held in May 2002 in Power Research Center and after that, the conference has been held with a coherent program every year.

1. The 1st conference of power distribution networks - with the responsibility of Gilan Regional Electricity Company - was held on July 1 and 2, 1991, in Bandar-Anzali, Gilan province. 
2. The 2nd conference of power distribution networks - under the responsibility of Isfahan Regional Electricity Company - was held on May 28 and 29, 1992, in Isfahan. 
3. The 3rd conference of power distribution networks - with the responsibility of Fars Regional Electricity Company - was held on May 21 and 22, 1993, In Shiraz. 
4. The 4th conference of power distribution networks - with the responsibility of Hormozgan Regional Electricity Company - was held in Bandar Abbas on April 27 and 28, 1994. 
5. The 5th conference of power distribution networks - with the responsibility of the Khorasan Regional Electricity Company - was held in Mashhad on May 3 and 4, 1995. 
6. The 6th conference of power distribution networks - with the responsibility of the Mazandaran Regional Electricity Company - was held on May 19 and 20, 1996, In Babolsar. 
7. The 7th conference of power distribution networks was held in Tehran on May 30 and 31, 2002. 
8. The 8th conference on power distribution networks with the responsibility of the Iranian Association of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IAEEE) was held in Tehran on May 30 and 31, 2003. 
9. The 9th power distribution networks conference was held in 2004 in Zanjan with the joint cooperation of the electricity industry, universities, and the IAEEE.  
10. The 10th conference was held in Tabriz on April 14 and 15, 2005, with the joint responsibility of the IAEEE and Tabriz University.  
11. The 11th conference was held on May 12 and 13, 2006, in Mahmud-Abad, Mazandaran.
12. The 12th conference was held on May 22 and 23, 2007, in Tehran. The Power Research Center was responsible for this conference. 
13. The 13th conference was held on May 11 and 12, 2008 in Gilan. 
14. The 14th conference was held on May 16 and 17, 2009 in Kerman. 
15. The 15th conference was held on May 14 and 15, 2010 in Tehran. The Niroo Research Institute was responsible for this conference. 
16. The 16th conference was held in Bandar-Abbas on April 30 and 31, 2011.
17. The 17th conference was held on May 12 and 13, 2012 in Tehran with the responsibility of the IAEEE. 
18. The 18th conference was held in May 2013 in Kermanshah. 
19. The 19th conference was held on May 16 and 17, 2014 in Tehran. The Niroo Research Institute was responsible for this conference. 
20. The 20th conference was held on April 28 and 29, 2015 in Zahedan. The Sistan and Baluchestan Electric Power Distribution Company was responsible for this conference. 
21. The 21st conference was held in Karaj on May 7 and 8, 2016. 
22. The 22nd conference was held in Semnan on March 30 and 31, 2017. 
23. The 23rd conference was held in Tehran on May 19 and 20, 2018. 
24. The 24th conference was held in Khorramabad on April 24 and 25, 2019. 
25. The 25th conference was held in Karaj on August 25 and 26, 2021.
26. The 26^th conference was held virtually on May 11 and 12, 2022, with the cooperation of the Moshanir Company and the Iranian Association of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IAEEE).
27. The 27^th conference was held on May 12 to May 14 , 2023, in cooperation with the Iranian Electrical and Electronics Engineers Association and Mashhad Power Distribution Company at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad.
28. The 28^th conference was held on April 30 to May 2 , 2024, in cooperation with the Iranian Electrical and Electronics Engineers Association and Zanjan Power Distribution Company at  the Faculty of Engineering, University of Zanjan.
